What is Kite Surf
Kitesurfing is a water sport traction, sometimes called fly-surfing or kite only. It consists to slip on a surfboard or a small board twintip (front and rear identical) while being dragged by a kite called wing. The practitioner pilot, with a bar, a kite remote from twenty to thirty meters. Two to five lines connecting the bar to the kite. The wings are the most common inflatable and have 4 lines, and some wings are now equipped with a 5th line that gives extra comfort and safety.

Kitesurfing in the North of Fuerteventura is suitable for all levels, and there are a few kite surfing schools to choose from. El Cotillo on the west coast of Fuerteventura is also an ideal location for Wave sailors.

PKRA Kite Surf Competition in Fuerteventura
Each year the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association (PKRA) hold a kitesurfing competition Worldwilde. In 2011 they will again organise a kite contest in Fuerteventura between the Aug-02-2011 – Aug-06-2011. The competition is called : FUERTEVENTURA KITEBOARDING PKRA SUPER GRAND SLAM 2011
The Professional Kiteboard Riders Association (PKRA) is an association of riders for riders that manages professional kiteboarding worldwide. Our Mission is to communicate and negotiate the riders needs with event organizers and to ensure that riders, sponsors and organizers each get what they need from World Tour.
